The fish operation at Malone Lake began in 1952 when Jim Malone and his father cleared 400 acres of land for rice production. Limited by government allotments, the Malone family built a fee fishing lake, entered the bait business, pioneered the Triploid Grass Carp industry and became the largest sportfish producer in the United States.
The Glennon family purchased the fish farming operations at Malone Lake in 2023. Robert Glennon began working for the Malone family in 1996 and served as general manager of JM Malone and Son, Inc. since 2000. Glennon Fish Farms, Inc. will operate at the Malone Lake Fish Hatchery location producing live fish for the pond stocking, lake management and food fish production industries.
Glennon Fish Farms. Inc. is developing large scale commercial technologies for the production of advanced fingerling and adult sport fish.
